A Tesla Tribute to Oscar C. Boldt
Posted on 06/16/2020
BoldtOn the morning of Tuesday, June 9th, 2020, the Appleton community lost a giant and a gentleman when Oscar C. Boldt passed away at the age of 96.

Oscar was best known as the Chairman of the Boldt Company and a highly regarded philanthropist in the community. What many don’t know is that Oscar was a founding member of Tesla Engineering Charter School and served as its first charter board chair back in 2002. He shared his vision of a school that would inspire the next generation of designers and creators and, with a group of like-minded, dedicated community leaders, helped pave the way for a school that continues to serve hundreds of students who have an interest in STEM careers.

In the spring of 2004, Oscar opened the doors of his company to the first graduating class of Tesla Engineering Charter School, hosting 11 graduates and their families as we celebrated the students’ accomplishments and future pursuits. Oscar served as the keynote speaker, sharing his wisdom and experience with all in attendance.  He emphasized having a “passion for engineering” and encouraged the students to fully invest themselves in whatever they pursued.  The idea of being passionate about what you do has become a part of the fabric of Tesla thanks to Oscar’s efforts and support during those early years of the school.

Tesla Engineering Charter School would not be a reality without the vision, commitment, and passion of leaders like Oscar Boldt. His determination to bring the field of engineering and design into our schools to inspire the next generation of creators, builders, and problem-solvers has made our small corner of the world a much better place for our children. Oscar’s impact will continue to resonate for generations to come.

We offer our sincerest condolences to the entire Boldt family and are eternally grateful for Oscar’s willingness to share his time, talents, and passion with our young people.
